Audionetworks is delighted to exclusively represent The Stars From The Commitments, Corporate and private party entertainment.

The classic Irish Comedy from Roddy Doyle was released in 1991. The Story is based on fictional Irish soul band The Commitments. The movie received massive international recognition, nominated for Grammy’s and Academy Awards, and won several BAFTA’s and Brit Awards.

After the success of the movie, the cast decided to join forces and formed the real band, aptly named The Stars From The Commitments, featuring Dick Massey and Kenneth McCluskey. Kenneth played bass guitarist ‘Derek Scully’ and Dick played drummer ‘Billy Mooney’.

Twenty years later and The Stars From The Commitments are still performing the music from this hit movie. This band is truly authentic in it’s deliver and is the only Commitments band that features principal cast members from the actual movie.

The nine piece Soul band has played with such stars as BB King, Ben E King, Steve Cropper, James Brown, Sam Moore, and Wilson Pickett. They have performed for millions of fans and toured extensively in the USA and Europe.

Aslan, who took their name from the heroic lion in C.S. Lewis’s series of Narnia books (Aslan is the Turkish for lion), emerged from the working class areas of Finglas and Ballymun in Dublin’s Northside in the mid 1980s. They released a demo single, ‘This Is’, in the spring of 1986, which was a huge hit and became the longest running play-listed single on Ireland’s national pop radio station 2FM. In the summer of 1986 they played a series of rapturously received shows in the UK, and Melody Maker noted, ‘Lucky the label that signs this band!’. Janice Long at BBC Radio 1 recorded Aslan in session and went on to air it an unprecedented three times over subsequent weeks.

At the end of 1986 Aslan walked away with The Stag / Hot Press,’ Most Promising New Band’ award and signed to E.M.I. In 1988 they recorded their debut album, ‘Feel No Shame’ which shot straight to No.1 in the Irish charts and stayed there for weeks, earning them a gold disc in the process. Then, in August 1988, just as the option for their 2nd album had been picked up, Aslan infamously imploded, torn apart by overindulgence of all kinds. Five years and a day to the last time they gigged together (on the 11th of July 1993) they played what was supposed to be a one-off charity gig in Finglas; the spark was re-ignited, and Aslan landed a new record deal with BMG. The first fruit of the deal, their single “Crazy World”, entered the charts at No 4. and stayed in the charts for 3 months, becoming one of the most played songs on Irish Radio that year. “Crazy World” also won “Single of The Year” in 1993′s Hot Press Awards.

A few months later their follow-up single “Where’s The Sun” reached No.3 on the chart. The latter part of 1994 was spent touring throughout Ireland and recording their album, ‘Goodbye Charlie Moonhead’, which was released in Ireland at the end of 1994 and charted at number one, going on earn them another gold disc. Then, in 1995, the band were dropped, the victims of boardroom changes at BMG. Undeterred, Aslan went into the studio under their own steam to record a new album, ‘Here Comes Lucy Jones’ in April 1996. Released in October 1997, the album entered the Irish chart at No 14, and Aslan were nominated in seven categories in the 1997 Hot Press readers’ poll. ‘Shame About Lucy Moonhead’, a compilation of the best of Aslan’s recorded work on EMI, was released in July 1998, shot into the Irish albums charts at No.1 and has since turned double platinum. In March 1999 Aslan played five sell-out shows in Ireland’s most prestigious intimate venue, Vicar Street, during which their live album and concert movie / DVD ‘Made In Dublin’ were recorded. Both shot to No.1 in their first week of release. The album turned platinum within 3 weeks, and stayed in the top 10 for 8 weeks. Aslan finished 1999 on a high note by selling out Ireland’s largest indoor venue, the 9,000 capacity Point Theatre on 26th December.

In summer 2000 Aslan toured Australia for the first time to promote the release down-under of the album ‘Shame About Lucy Moonhead’, selling out shows in Sydney and Melbourne in the process. Aslan ended 2000 by playing their first gig in the Netherlands to a sell-out crowd and then returned to home soil to sell out the Point Theatre again on Dec 27th. In the spring of 2001 Aslan recorded a single, ‘She’s So Beautiful’, (featuring Sinead O ‘Connor on backing vocals,) which entered the Irish singles chart at No.9. The band then released the follow-up ‘Different Man’ which charted at no. 7. In September 2001, the band’s most recent studio album, “Waiting For This Madness To End” went straight into the Irish Album charts at number 1, outselling the number 2 album four times over.

The following week it stayed at no.1 and kept Kylie Minogue off the top spot! “Waiting For This Madness To End” went platinum after only four weeks. At Christmas 2001 Aslan again sold out the Point Theatre, and in 2002 Aslan were nominated in eight categories of the Hot Press readers poll, demonstrating the immense following the band have in their homeland.

In October 2005 the band released a 48 track CD, simply called ‘The Platinum Collection’. The album chronicles the singles, b-sides and rarities of their long career. The Platinum Collection went into the charts at no. 3 and after a few weeks lived up to its name by achieving triple platinum sales. The same year also saw a sold-out show in the Point to mark the album’s release.

2007 was another exciting year for the band as it marked their 25 years together. With their first single “Here Comes The Sun” from their latest album “For Some Strange Reason” entering the Irish singles chart at No. 5, their second single “Jealous Little Thing” confirms their continued popularity and staying power.

The key to the success of The OPERA Singing Waiters is the element of surprise. The performers are already amongst the guests posing as waiters pouring their wine and acting as hotel management during the food service. Mario the Italian waiter has been pouring wine at the tables, occasionally bursting into phrases from opera for the delighted guests. “In Italy, when we pour the wine, we sing!” he explains, in broken English. Simon, as the Banqueting Manager, tells him off when ever he does this.

Then, while Simon attempts to make a general announcement to the guests over the microphone, Mario suddenly grabs hold of it and starts to sing O SOLE MIO at the top of his voice. He finishes by standing on a chair waving his napkin in the air, to much applause!

Suddenly, not willing to allow himself to be upstaged by a waiter! The Banqueting Manager decides to join in and starts to sing too. Culminating in a crescendo with both singers holding the highest note for as long as they can, but in the end there can only be one winner. Which of course is Mario the singing waiter!

Upon hearing many calls from the guests for an encore, Mario agree’s to sing the Opera classic Nella Fantasia. But, makes it known that at some point during the song he will need a female vocalist to join in with him. While singing, he approaches many of the guests, as well the as waiting staff to join in but to no avail. Until suddenly, under duress, a beautiful young waitress named Lia agrees to sing with Mario during the song. and much to the surprise of all the guests “enters” the highly gifted young Soprano Donna Malone to rapturous applause from all of the guests that will bring the house down!

The Opera Waiters recently performed to great acclaim at the Ritz Carlton, Powerscourt for the KMPG convention and for the Failte Ireland conference in Limerick. Catch them now and surprise your guests in a way that will have everyone talking for a very long time.

If you don’t know about horse outside and the Rubberbandits then you must be dead.
Over 7 million YouTube views since December, 100,00 itunes downloads and a chorus thats ringing out in street corners from Sunset Strip to Notre Dame – “F*ck your Honda Civic, I’ve a Horse Outside”Accompanied by a video that has been at various stages the most viewed video in South Africa, the most tweeted video link in the world and the topic of op ed pieces everywhere from the New Dehli Times to CNBC to the Spectator. Horse Outside was the song that made Christmas 2010 in Ireland better than bearable .it’s one of those songs that taps into everyones inner need to sing more songs about Horses, and of course the triumph of the little guy in the nasty world of love.

Having clocked up 70 Live dates from London to Mullingar to Sydney and every point in between already this year, the Rubberbandits showed with follow up video and single “I wanna fight your father” that they were no one trick pony.

The Swing Cats are a live Swing band with a difference; their set list is focused on the more uptempo hits from the swing dance era of the 1940’s and 1950’s. featuring tracks from artists such as Luis Prima from the movie {Jungle Book} Luis Jordan’s {Choo Choo Ch’Boogie} and Bobby Darin {Beyond the Sea}.

While also immersed in the music of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr and other such legends from the golden age of American big band swing music. The Swing Cats have drawn on these icons as their main influences but have put quite their own unique contemporary twist on this music which has given them a unique brand of high energy swing dance music that gets all ages on the dance floor from the beginning until the end of any occasion.

A fully live band comprising of some of Irelands top musicians they can tailor their repertoire to suit your musical preferences, whilst mainly performing as a five piece band that includes vocals, piano, double bass, drums and saxophone they can scale up or down as required to perform as a two, three and four piece or 10 piece act depending on your requirements.

Audionetworks are delighted to welcome emerging original band The Strypes to our roster of talent.

The Strypes are a 4 piece Original Rock and Beat Band from Cavan. This exciting young band are a brilliant addition to any music festival or event. At an average age of just 15, this band are already set to rock the festival circuit with dates already confirmed for festivals at home and abroad.

The young mod 4 piece appeared on The Late Late Show, and since then have received massive support from Irish national and regional radio stations including Today FM, 2FM and Dublin’s 98FM, with their lead track from their debut E.P ” You Can’t Judge A Book By The Cover”. They have also received great support from such Irish names as Glen Hansard and Tommy Tiernan. Their single is expected to be one of the biggest releases in Ireland in 2012.

Jungle Boogie the band features Larry Hogan (guitars & vocals), Andy Mann (guitar & vocals), Paul Cantwell (drums), and Brian Hogan (bass).

Larry Hogan Producer, composer and guitar player, Larry has played with the likes of Bono and Ronan Keating. He has also recorded and played with ‘The Band’ of Bob Dylan fame and has being involved in platinum selling albums and also works as a music writer for television, co-penning the jingle of TV’s ‘You’re a Star’.

Andrew Mann Andrew is currently working on his solo album ,and can be currently seen singing ‘All Together Now’ for the Centra advertising campaign on Irish TV.
